Priorities

Deborah Williams’ priorities and approach for 2026–2030 put students at the centre. Ontario’s education system has entered a period of major change. Ontario must close the $6.5 billion provincial education funding gap created since 2018 because funding has not kept pace with inflation. As Trustee, her focus is on the priorities that matter most to families, staff and communities: student achievement, safe learning environments, and transparent and accountable governance that strengthens public education.

Student Achievement

A strong academic foundation opens doors, so every student gains the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed. Trustee Deborah Williams will continue to support:

  • Evidence‑based literacy and numeracy instruction
  • Early‑years and K-12 investments that build essential skills
  • Targeted strategies to close achievement gaps, including Special Education supports
  • Clear, transparent reporting so families and communities understand progress and are engaged

Safe Learning Environments

Safety and stability are essential, in schools where every student feels secure, supported, and ready to learn. Trustee Deborah Williams will continue to advocate for:

  • Modernized and accessible school facilities and infrastructure
  • Clear, province‑wide standards for classroom expectations, including smaller class-size
  • Inclusive, culturally responsive curriculum
  • Supports that promote belonging, well‑being, and respect

Modernized, Accountable Governance

Communities deserve transparency and responsible stewardship of public resources. I will continue working to ensure a school board that is effective, transparent, and focused on improving student outcomes. I remain committed to:

  • Strengthening oversight and ethical governance
  • Fully-funded high-quality public education, ensuring dollars reach classrooms where they matter most
  • Long‑term planning grounded in data and community voice
  • Clear roles, responsibilities, and decision‑making processes
