Approved a plan to balance the 2025-2026 budget and eliminate a $34.4 million deficit over two years. The two-year plan was to result in a $2.8 million deficit in 2025-2026 and a $0.3 million surplus in 2026-2027. The approved budget also included a request for one-time use of $13.7 million from Proceeds of Disposition.
NOTE: That budget was not approved by the Minister of Education and TDSB was placed under supervision on June 27, 2025 due to a probable accumulated deficit in the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. The provincial appointed supervisor, together with senior staff project a 2026-2027 budget deficit of approximately $15 million.
Student‑Focused Advocacy
Protected Classroom Staffing by supporting motions that kept additional staff in schools for 2025–2026 and capping grade 4-8 classes at 32 students. In late 2025, the provincially appointed supervisor overturned that cap on class sizes.
Reliable Procedural Leadership by ensuring meetings ran smoothly, accessibly, and with public accountability.
Strengthened Public Confidence by demonstrating professionalism and transparency throughout every meeting.
Consistent Community Engagement by holding monthly Ward Forums. TDSB Ward Forums are the main way trustees bring parents, caregivers, students, and community members together to discuss local school issues, share updates from the Board, and gather feedback that shapes trustee advocacy. They’re part governance, part community engagement, and part information‑sharing.
